Permanent Displays

As well as our new exhibits, we also have a variety of permanent displays which are devoted to Ashford's history.

  • Development of Ashford - 18th to 21st centuries      

  • Ashford Tapestry

  • The Ashford Litter

  • Geological material from the local area and archaeological items including Roman and Anglo-Saxon artefacts.

  • Ashford as an important market town from the 13th to the 21st century.

  • Ashford Railway Works display of photographs and various artefacts.

  • Gruesome Surgical instruments and information on the old Ashford Hospitals in Ashford and Willesborough.

  • War-time Ashford includes many displays of Ashford as a 'front-line town' during World War Two. Listen to fascinating interviews of residents who lived through WW2 in Ashford. There are also displays of medals and memorabilia from the battlefields of WW1.

  • World War One Great Chart Collection

  • Domestic life from Victorian times

  • Local businesses and industry from the past including old Pharmacy Shop items, advertisments and wares of various Ashford businesses.

  • Ashford Fire Brigade display shows various equipment and clothing used in the service's early days.
